The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is hosting a 3-day shopping event with more than a dozen artists selling their woodwork, jewelry, photos and more. The event starts 9 a.m. to 5:30pm Friday and Saturday, December 4th and 5th and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 6th at 4801 La Crosse Avenue.

Friday is Austin Junior League Day so general gifts are all 20 percent off. Sunday you’ll find specials on Franz porcelain jewelry and 20 percent off apparel.

Free Housecleaning for Cancer Survivors

This is a great gift to give anyone you may know who’s going through cancer treatments. Cleaning for a reason is a nationwide organization that offers free housecleaning once a month for four months for people undergoing cancer treatments.

They’ve been inundated with requests as of late, but will start accepting new clients December 7th. So if you know someone who is deserving, give them a call. This is not just an Austin based organization—they work with maid services across the country. Thanks Susan for the tip!

Travel Deals

I know a lot of Longhorn fans are trying to plan ahead in hopes of making a trip to Pasadena for the National Championship game. So if you’re among them check out these airfare deals.

  • Southwest Airlines has airfare from Austin to Los Angeles the week of January 7th for as little as $139 one way.
  • Travel with United Airlines between now and the end of the year and for each trip you’ll earn a 5 percent e-certificate discount to use next year. You must sign up for the promotion in order to take advantage of the deal.
  • Frontier Airlines is having a great sale right now. They’ve got fares for as little as $87 one way from Austin to  Denver. And you’ll find even better deals from other destinations—some fares as low as $49 one way. You’ve got to purchase by December 4th but you can travel through February 10th.
  • Air New Zealand is having a 3 day sale. You can save 20 percent. They only fly out of Dallas here in Texas. These deals are only good for flights that leave between December 24th and December 31st.
  • Alaska Air is also having a Winter sale called Hot Deals on Ice. Airfare from Austin to San Jose is $99 one way. You’ve got to book by December 7th and travel between January 5th to March 10th, 2010.

Give Friends and Family FREE $10 Restaurant.com Gift Certificates

Restaurant.com is running a month-long promotion called Feed it Forward. It's a way to give a free $10 gift certificate to 30 of your friends and family members. All you do is type in their name and e-mail address and they'll get it in their e-mail.

You've got to use the certificates by February 2010. Most restaurants also require you to spend at least $20 at the restaurant in order to cash in the certificate, but that's still like getting a $20 dinner for just $10.

The CEO of Restaurant.com says they are stocking the site with $30 million dollars worth of gift certificates because of all the job losses, home foreclosures and overall tough economic conditions.

This week you’ll find a few freebies and some amazing travel deals. Remember if you ever have spot any good deals send me an e-mail. Enjoy!
