This week you'll find several Veteran's Day freebies for veterans and active duty military members, several other freebies for everyone to take advantage of, a great excuse to exchange your holiday lights, and some restaurant and travel savings worth checking out. Thanks to all of the viewers who keep e-mailing me ideas. Remember if you spot a deal drop me an e-mail so I can share it with everyone else who reads this.

Veterans Day Freebies
On Veterans Day Applebee’s is giving all veterans and active duty military members a free meal. You’ll get to select from six different meals and you do have to show proof of military service. Here is what they will accept:
• U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card
• U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card
• Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES)
• Veterans Organization Card (i.e., American Legion and VFW)
• Photograph in uniform
• Wearing uniform
• DD214
• Citation or Commendation

You can go here to find an Applebee’s near you.

• Participating Outback restaurants are also giving away a free bloomin’ onion and beverage to any veteran or active duty military member. To find a location near you go here.

Krispy Kreme is giving away free doughnuts to veterans and military members. Go here to find a location near you. Thanks Susan for letting me know about this.

• You can get free patriotic music downloads on Amazon.com today. There are 12 different tracks including the Star Spangled Banner and American Pageant which is a combination of some of the classic favorites like America the Beautiful.

Trade in and trade up your Christmas lights
From now until November 15th Home Depot is asking you to bring in your used, broken or burned out incandescent lights and trade them for a $3 off coupon for a new set of LED lights. The coupon means that instead of spending $5.97 you’ll only pay $2.97. The LED lights also use 80 percent less energy and last longer.

Pflugerville Discounts
The Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce is offering up a “Come Home to Shop!” discount card. It costs $1 and gets you 10 to 25 percent discounts at dozens of Pflugerville businesses. There are even a few businesses that are offering buy one get one free deals. You can use the cards through March 31, 2010. The goal is to get people to shop close to home. You can find a complete list of the discounts the card will get you here.

Here are some of the businesses taking part:
Air Craft, Inc.; Alexan Swenson Farms; All-Ways Storage; Aramco Auto Service Center; Austin Steam Train; Best Buy; BioLife Plasma Services; Blue Marble Java; Central Texas Secure Shredding; Comfort Suites; Common Solutions, LLC; CyberMaster; Dogboy’s Dog Ranch; Doggy Day Out Kennel & Daycare; Eagle Transmission; Firestone Complete Auto Care; Go Dental; Hilton Garden Inn North Austin; Holiday Inn Express; Imaginations; Interstate Lanes; Kaleidoscoops Ice Cream; Century 21-Leo Brown; Life Shakes N’ More; McMurtrie Farms Events Center; Oo La La; Round Rock Express; Simply Healing, LLC; StorageTown USA; the Pflugerville Pflag, The Storehouse Thrift Store; TMRCC;  Villas Tech Ridge, Which Which?, and Windermere Events Center.

Free Music Downloads
Amazon.com has some great free country music downloads. You’ll find free music from Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears as part of a lost highway sampler.

And if you’re ready to get in the holiday spirit, check out the free Christmas Classic Sampler.

Discounted DVDs
Wal-Mart and Target are at it again. This time they’re going back and forth on the price of 10 of the hottest up and coming DVDs. So you can pre-order and get the titles for around $10. You’ll pay $9.99 at Target, $9.98 at Wal-Mart.

Restaurant Savings
Restaurant.comis offering what is typically their best monthly deal right now. You can save 80-percent through November 12th by using the discount code ENTRÉE. There are all kinds of new Austin restaurants here including Max’s Wine Dive and Joe DiMaggio’s at the Domain and Opal Divines. The discount means $25 gift certificates that normally cost $10 will only cost you $2. And remember if you’re heading out of town, this is a great way to try out new restaurants on vacation too.

Travel Deals
Southwest Airlines is having another great sale with airfare as low as $59 one way. You’ve got to book your tickets by November 23rd and good for travel from December 2nd through March 9, 2010 with of course no travel on the blackout dates December 18th through January 4th.

Tea and Coffee Freebie
Susan e-mailed me this great offer. The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is giving away a complimentary 12 ounce holiday drink Thursday, November 12th.

There are two locations in Austin and many more across the country. Go here to find a location near you.
