93.3 KGSR's Unplugged at the Grove kicked-off its 20th Anniversary season last Thursday. This week, Thursday, April 18th you can enjoy the music of SUZANNA CHOFFEL. Remember every Thursday for the next 23 weeks you can visit Shady Grove on Barton Springs Road. The skies over Horseshoe Bay Resort be filled with colorful hot air balloons for Balloons Over Horseshoe Bay, the resort’s first ever balloon festival. The festival will take place Friday, Apr. 19 - Sunday, Apr. 21. Each day will feature morning and evening glows and live music, including the Grammy- nominated Sixpence None the Richer. The event will also feature wine tasting from five of the Hill Country’s most popular wineries, authentic Texas barbeque and a Kids Festival featuring a “Transportation Throughout Time” exhibit. The seventh annual Austin Family Music Festival at Pioneer Farms takes place Saturday, April 20. This year, a Guinness Book world-record Hula Hoop contest will be held at the festival – I’ll be out there for this. It was so fun last year, hope you’ll join us. There will also be music on five presentation stages, more than 20 musical acts, horse rides, magicians and more. Food, childrens activities and fun for all ages will also be featured in the event that will run from 10 a.m. to Dusk.
Tickets are $12 in advance at Ticketbud.com, or $14 at the gate. As an added bonus, admission to the festival will cover entrance to Pioneer Farms, Central Texas’ premier living history park. The festival is presented by Pioneer Farms and Sterling Affairs Hospitality, along with The Smile Never Fades, an Austin breast-cancer charity, and Hoops for Hope. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated to The Smile Never Fades.
Ballet Austin is letting folks who live downtown come try a Sunday afternoon class free. It’s part of Downtown Resident Appreciation Day on Sunday, April 21, from 1- 4 p.m. You must live in the 78701 neighborhood and have an ID card or bill with your name and address on it).
