The last few years you’ve seen me post several different crib recalls. Now the Consumer Product Safety Commission says that of the 7 million cribs recalled since 2007, more than 6 million have drop sides.
ASTM is the group that develops voluntary manufacturing standards for all kinds of products including cribs. In December it revised its standard to no longer allow the sale of cribs that have a traditional drop side. And the CPSC expects to establish new rules for cribs later this year.
You can always check the list of recalled baby products here.
The CPSC has also put together a really nice guide which includes what to look for in your own crib that might signal a problem.
