A California company that employs a couple of thousand people here in Austin has come up with a unique way to incorporate learning and video games.
In fact, Advanced Micro Devices Inc. lets children create their own video games. It’s a program it calls Activate!
It’s a pretty neat concept because the games all involve problem solving skills.
According to the company, “The games on Activate! are about getting active and solving problems on your street, in your town, and in the world. Issues such as energy conservation, solar power, environmental conservation, and pollution are explored. Who knows? Maybe playing and making games about these important issues can help us deal with them in the "real world!"
Just sign up, create and get feedback on your concept. You can even give feedback on other people’s games.
So if you’ve got a video game junky in your home, this could be a good educational tool or project for this summer.
