Chrysler announced the recall of nearly 600,000 vehicles today for both brake problems and a potential fire hazard.
Town & Country and Grand Caravan Recall
The first recall involves nearly 285,000 2008 to 2009 Town & Country and Grand Caravans because of the potential for fires.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says some of these vans have an improperly routed wire harness that can wear down when the door slides and that may result in a fire.
Chrysler will begin notifying car owners this month, but if you have one of these vans you can call Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
If you’ve experienced problems you should contact the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
Jeep Wrangler recall
Chrysler is also recalling 289,000 2006 to 2010 Jeep Wranglers because of brake problems.
The company says the inner portion of the fenders may rub on the rear brake tubes causing a brake fluid leak and that can cause people to lose brake power and increase their risk of a crash.
You can call Chrysler at this same number 1-800-853-1403 if you have questions.
