There's another recall involving an infant product parents need to know about. This one involves 20,000 portable play yard tents.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the Cozy Indoor Outdoor Portable Play yard Tents Plus Cabana Kits have clips that attach the tent to the top of the play yard and may break.
The death of a two year old from Vinalhaven, Maine in December 2008 started this investigation. The boy was found hanging with his neck entrapped between the play yard frame and metal base rod. Apparently the child became entrapped while trying to climb out of the play yard. Then there were three other incidents, but all of those children managed to escape.
The play yards were sold at Walmart, Amazon.com and various children’s stores from January 2005 through February 2010.
If you have one of these you should stop using them and call Tots in Mind to get free replacement clips. But it’s important that you know the clips won’t be available until August or September.
The number to call is (800) 626-0339 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
Remember you can always check to make sure the baby products in your home have not been recalled here or check out the crib safety center.
