This makes me grateful I don’t need to pay for day care, that I only have to save money for college for our little one.
In fact the study finds that in 36 states, “The average annual cost for center-based care for an infant was higher than a year’s tuition and related fees at a four-year public college.”
Texas is one of those states. Here the average yearly cost to have an infant in child care is $7,850. The average cost for tuition and fees is $7,743.
Parents in Mississippi pay the least for child care on average $4,650 a year. Parents in Washington, D.C. pay the most $18,200 a year.
You can see where all the states rank here.
