Austin is among the best cities for working moms, but maybe not as good as last year?
This is only the second year Forbes magazine has ranked cities based on a number of factors including safety, great schools, job opportunities, good pay and health care. Yet when you compare year to year it makes it look as though Austin has fallen.
The magazine narrowed the list of criteria this year which makes it look like Austin dropped from number two last year to number 27 this year. However it is tough to compare year to year.
Austin ranked pretty much the same year to year on most categories that were kept with the exception of the income category where we went from 21 to 37 this year.
Here’s a look at the top ten and where Austin and other Texas cities fall on that list:
1. Minneapolis
2. Washington, DC
3. Boston
4. Pittsburgh
5. Baltimore
6. Denver
7. Hartford
8. New York Metro
9. Seattle
10. Buffalo
23. Dallas
27. Austin
34. Houston
