The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling another 1,000 drop-side cribs.
This time 1,000 Caramia “Diane” drop-side cribs sold at Buy Buy Baby stores from September 2002 through December 2005 are involved. The company has received 18 reports of slats detaching from the rails of the crib which can pose a fall or entrapment hazard. No children have been injured.
However, if you have one of these cribs you should stop using it. A free replacement side will not be available until March 2010.
Anyone with questions should call Caramia at (877) 728-0342 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the company’s Web site.
Millions of cribs have been recalled in the last year and the Consumer Product Safety Commission is studying crib safety. It is believed it may eventually ban these drop-side cribs because of the dangers they have posed.
