If you’re still hoping to get home for the holidays you may be in luck especially if you don’t mind flying on Christmas.

According to an article in USA Today many of the major airlines are not as booked as they’d hoped so they’ve lowered their prices.

I thought I'd show you some of the best deals. United, is advertising some airfare for as little as $47 one way. The airline has even created a map to show you which days get you the best rates. You must purchase by December 23rd, but can travel all the way through January 4th.

American Airlines says there are still some flights selling for as little as $52 one way. And it too puts up a calendar to show you the best days to get the best deals. The best Texas deal is Dallas to Wichita for as little as $76 one way, Dallas to Baltimore is as little as $148 one way.

Southwest Airlines still has some flights for as little as $59 one way. There’s nothing that cheap out of Austin. I found a $74 one way fare to Dallas, most of the other fares from here are upwards of $200 one way.

Continental Airlines is having a ‘Home for the Holidays’ campaign. The best fares are out of Houston, New York/Newark and Cleveland. For example you can fly round trip from Houston to Chicago for as little as $204 round trip. You can find other year-end escapes here including Austin to New York/Newark for $361 round trip.

Don’t procrastinate. These deals likely won’t last long.
