Well this was definitely the most unexpected ending of the Bachelorette ever! I think all women can relate to falling for the wrong guy and not seeing the right guy standing in front of them, but it usually doesn't happen all in one week and end with a proposal.
The finale began with a touching talk with Chris Harrison as Des admitted that she really just wanted to go home after Brooks broke her heart. But after reflecting on everything that had happened, Des decided that she wanted to move forward and see where her relationships with Drew and Chris would go. It didn't take long for her to decide that the feelings just weren't there for Drew. She should have just started the date by saying, "Here...ride this horse down to the beach with me so I can tell you how much I loved Brooks and dump you while crying on your shoulder". I have to admit that I felt pretty bad for Drew. I actually hoped he would become the next Bachelor. He's super sweet and looks great with his shirt off...I'm pretty sure that is the only criteria.
On Chris' date you could tell right away that things were different. I certainly found myself rooting for him. They seem to fit together really well and he was truly sincere about his feelings for her. I'm so glad she finally saw the light. I mean if Des' brother even likes the guy, then you have to know he's a keeper! In some ways as harsh as Nate is, he might be useful on the show. They should bring him in as a truth teller...someone to cut through all the bull and just tell it like it is, so people stop wasting their time on the wrong people. I wonder if he has the same clarity in his own relationships as he seems to have when it comes to his sister.
My stomach dropped a bit as I'm sure Chris' did when Des stopped him from getting down on one knee. But I'm glad that she stopped him. I think she was right to tell him about her feelings for Brooks and the fact that she had already sent Drew home. I would not want to get engaged to someone until I knew the whole truth. It didn't really even seem to phase him. He was so confident in the future that he could see for the both of them, that it didn't matter. He got down on one knee and asked her to grow old with him and start a family and have babies...and most of all be his wife. It was a wonderful ending to a very long and very painful season of the Bachelorette.
Chris may be Des' one and only but the new Bachelor is the Juan and only....Juan Pablo! As Chris Harrison said, "There has never been a Bachelor with as little screen time as Juan Pablo", but the response was overwhelming. The viewers wanted Jaun Pablo and they are going to get him! Tune in next season as Juan Pablo searches for the perfect wife and stepmother for his daughter Camila. It is sure to be MUY CALIENTE!
