"The Bachelorette" begins with a dance sequence (umm when did Ashley learn to dance? I don’t remember that from "The Bachelor" last season), a lot of crop tops from the 80s to make sure everyone knows she’s thin, and a clear insight into her poor judgement with men as they reveal her inevitable heartbreak all before the first limo arrives.
The shirtless man montage and personal biographies worried me a little bit, but I decided to hold out until the cocktail party to decide that most of these men were a little bit crazy and Bentley was a pig. I wish Ashley had decided the same thing. She’s gonna be in for it I’m afraid. It’s never a good sign when a guy says that he’s “not overly attracted to her,” but he’s very competitive, so he feels like the first impression rose should be his.
My first impression of Bentley is that he’s a self-centered tool. I can’t believe Ashley fell for him. I thought this might be the worst "Bachelorette" ever, but then again, the guy with the mask, the mom who told them to use condoms, and the drunk passing out and snoring actually raised the entertainment value. As one of the guys said tonight, “it takes a little guts and nuts” to make an impression on this show and it may take just that for me to get through this season.
I’m rooting for J.P. (a.k.a. "Cupcake"). I hope she gives him a real chance and stays away from the phonies.
