I think ABC could have saved us all hours of boredom by simply taking Ashley out of the room on that first night and having Chris Harrison ask the guys to raise their hand if they wanted to leave now that they knew the Bachelorette was not Emily or Chantal. I’m pretty sure Ryan and JP would have been the only two men left standing. We could have had a short, three episode season where Ryan and JP could have competed in a series of physical tests of their love for Ashley…maybe do it “Wipeout” style with a bunch of obstacles involving mud and giant inflatable balls and at the end Ashley could just marry JP and I wouldn’t still be writing this blog. Ashley started the show by letting us know that it felt like a lifetime since she started this journey. Ashley, you have no idea what it’s been like for the rest of us! We got a wonderful recap of the 3 men left standing and a bird’s eye view of what it would be like to go to Fiji with someone we’re really not that interested in. I have to say that I feel sorry for her. In all the years that I’ve been watching the Bachelorette series, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a man turn down the fantasy suite. I’ve seen women turn it down….but never men. Thank you Constantine for showing us what a true, “he’s just not that into you” moment really looks like. I guess we knew that in the end, there could only be one caveman that would survive and that man was Ben. Now before I get into my feelings toward Ben and JP, I must pause to ask, “What the hell was Ryan thinking?” What guy comes back after being dumped that hard? And why would you stick around after two days of waiting? I guess it is Fiji…if there’s one place to go to make a fool out of yourself, that’s a pretty good place to do it. Usually they describe this show as the “Most Exciting”, “Most Dramatic”, or “Most Romantic” season of The Bachelorette ever….you don’t hear that so much this time around. It’s more like the “Most Men Who Walked Out Before The Rose Ceremony ” or “Most Insulting Comments to The Bachelorette ” season ever! It’s just painful. I don’t think anyone should be subjected to this…least of all Ashley. She seems like a perfectly nice girl….she just shouldn’t have been The Bachelorette. Not everyone is meant to be a reality star. In fact, I don’t think any of The Bachelorette seasons were all that great. They should have just stopped after Trista. But NO! Here we are listening to Ashley talk about her nasty toes with Ben. Yuck! I’m honestly more interested in the “Tell All” special this Sunday than the finale next week. I secretly hope that they tie Bentley up in the middle of the room and let the women in the audience kick him in the ball one by one. One way or another, this will all be over soon. Will it be PJ or will it be Ben? Sadly…I don’t think anyone cares.
