Austin police and fire crews are responding to the 11600 block of North Mopac Expressway southbound, south of the Duval overpass, due to an 18-wheeler fire.
APD tweeted at 9:47 p.m. Friday that the truck was fully engulfed, and all southbound lanes of Mopac were shut down to include the frontage road.
APD said the driver was able to make it out of the truck.
As of 10 p.m., most lanes were still blocked and APD was diverting traffic around the incident, according to AFD.
AFD said the only open southbound lane is the toll lane, and traffic is being moved there.
The frontage road south of Duval is also blocked with a fire hose.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
