<It was a typical spring game with a lot of selfies, an appearance by D'onta Foreman, and Breckyn Hager's flowing hair continues to grow...
103 combined points were scored by using a modified scoring system.
UT's spring game was tied at the end of the regulation and that didn't sit well with 1st year head coach, Tom Herman, "we don't have ties in this program, we're going to keep going until a winner declares themselves".
After Herman decided to place the ball on the 2-yard line with one opportunity to score, the 1st team defense made the game winning stop on the 2 yard line. A 52-51 victory for the Orange.
A result of the Herman culture change, perhaps. Longhorn linebacker, Nasshon Hughes, "we didn't want to lose. Nobody wants to lose. It was 51-51, we aren't trying to lose and have to run".
As for the quarterbacks,  Shane Buechele appears to be in control of this race against true freshman, Sam Ehlinger. But, Herman is not prepared to name a starter.
"No way. I think a healthy fear of losing your job is just that. Healthy., said Herman.
"if you were not at the stadium you missed a special addition to the Longhorns defense. Every time before the defense took the field they lined up near the end zone bonded together as a unit and sprinted out to the field, but why? UT defensive back, P.J. Locke, III explained,
"Coach Herman tells us as an offensive coordinator how a defense takes the field that's going to dictate what kind of plays he's going to call. So if the defense takes the field dragging they're going to take shots at us".
Lessons learned this spring until the Horns report for August camp and begin preparing for Maryland.
