How fitting is it that a Cavalier and a Chaparral will extend rivalry week from Friday into Saturday inside of the Cotton Bowl?

It's Baker Mayfield's last opportunity to walk down the historic Cotton Bowl tunnel as a Sooner quarterback.

Meanwhile, Sam Ehlinger will make his 1st trot down the tunnel as a Longhorn quarterback.

When asked, what he knows about Ehlinger? The Lake Travis alumni,O-U quarterback had this to say.

"He went to Westlake and he's never beaten Lake Travis", said Mayfield.

Ehlinger wasn't available to the media today, but his teammates spoke on his behalf

"I expect the same results as he did versus USC as well", said Texas linebacker, Malik Jefferson.

Confidence in their freshman quarterback whose physical running style was noticed while Ehlinger played at Westlake. UT linebacker, Naashon Hughes said fellow teammate and Westlake alumni, Breckyn Hager always told him about Ehlinger at Westlake and some of the Longhorns would watch Ehlinger play in high school, including their game against Lake Travis.

"that's just his style of play. Nothing surprises us", said Hughes.

The same applies to Mayfield, the Lake Travis Cavalier. He plays with moxy. He improvises and he has planted a flag on an opponent's field. Mayfield also delivers a little chatter.

Malik Jefferson has no problem with that, "he likes to have fun that's what football is all about. Whatever he says, we're just going out there to play our game".

The Texas/OU game is one which is suited for Mayfield's personality, but the outcome of this game has significant implications on the Sooners' season.

"Yeah, the tough thing about it being OU/TX this week is the fact it's always an emotional one. It's always going to be chippiy and physical. It's an important one for us to bounce back", said Mayfield.

Bouncing back after a loss to Iowa State is priority number one for O-U meanwhile Ehlinger and the Longhorns can remain a top the Big 12 standings with a win over rival Oklahoma.

But, that Westlake/Lake Travis rivalry pride will be present in Dallas, as well.
