One person has been airlifted to a hospital after a vehicle struck a pedestrian in Wimberley on Wednesday afternoon, the Hays County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff’s office said DPS is investigating the crash at Ranch Road 12 and River Road, and that the crash happened around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

According to law enforcement at the scene, the driver thought her vehicle was in reverse but it was in drive and she hit a van and a pedestrian at a farmer's market that was taking place in the parking lot.

The pedestrian was transported by STAR Flight to the hospital and might lose her leg. The driver had minor injuries.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area while authorities investigate.
