WCSO find suspect who fled from 'potentially dangerous traffic stop' Tuesday

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect who fled from Tuesday's potentially dangerous traffic stop with Deputy Horseman.

A man who had previously fled from police during a traffic stop on Feb. 20 was identified and arrested Wednesday night, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office said.

The suspect, later identified as Brandon Alan Smith, 36, allegedly failed to identify himself during a traffic stop in Leander, and fled from the scene. This is the second time that Williamson County Deputy Horseman was involved in a potentially dangerous traffic stop this month. WCSO and the U.S. Marshals Service worked together to locate Smith, according to the press release.

Around 11 p.m. Wednesday, the WCSO STAR successfully took Smith into custody. Smith was charged with evading in a vehicle and failure to identify fugitive from justice. According to the press release, he is currently booked into the Williamson County Jail. Smith allegedly had an existing parole violation warrant.
