Wahlberg says he ‘certainly would’ be interested in buying MLS team to prevent move to Austin

Austin City Council will take a vote Wednesday to decide if the new Major League Soccer stadium at McKalla Place is a good fit for Austin. But, Mark Wahlberg said he's interested in buying the MLS team to prevent its move to Austin.

AUSTIN — Mark Wahlberg has added a new job title to his resume: dealership owner.

According to ABC station WSYX, Wahlberg recently purchased the Bobby Layman Chevrolet dealership in Columbus, Ohio.

The actor said he has always had a passion and love for cars and plans on being very involved in the day-to-day operations at the dealership, WSYX reported.

Aside from being a dealership owner and famous actor, Wahlberg is also one of the founders of Wahlbergers, a burger restaurant and bar. That being said, many are wondering if the actor and sports fan will take on a role in the sports industry by purchasing the Columbus Crew SC to prevent it from moving to Austin.

When Wahlberg was asked if he was interested in buying the team, he said, "Actually, you know what, I certainly would... I think that may be something we need to discuss. I became a huge, huge soccer fan. This World Cup really got me," WSYX reported.
