Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash near Burnet Saturday afternoon, DPS confirmed.
DPS Trooper Robbie Barrera said the crash happened around 2 p.m. on US 282 less than a mile south of Burnet. A car was traveling south on 281 when the driver passed a vehicle in the outside lane then moved into the inner lane. The driver lost control of the vehicle, spun out of control across two lanes of traffic then off the road. The car rolled through a fence.
Witnesses told DPS that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The passenger, identified as Audrey Reginold, 31, of Marble Falls, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver, identified as Lila Acosta, 34, of El Paso, was partially ejected and died later at the hospital, according to DPS.
