The Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal head-on collision that resulted in the deaths of two adults and one minor, nearly two miles south of Schulenburg, Texas.
According to a report by DPS, the driver of a 2015 Lexus crossover SUV, identified as Denise Cain, 52, of LaPorte, Texas, was driving southbound on U.S. 77 at 8:09 a.m while a 2014 Nissan was traveling northbound.
DPS notes that the weather at the time of the crash featured heavy rain.
At some point, Cain lost control of her vehicle and drifted into the northbound lane - causing the car to strike the Nissan head on.
DPS said the only other passenger in Cain's vehicle was a 15-year-old boy from Alvin, Texas. He died at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Roger Cheney, 67, of Inez Texas, and his passenger Cynthia Cheney, 64, both died at the scene of the collision.
All persons involved in the crash were wearing their seatbelts, according to DPS.
It's unknown if any charges are pending.
