Police have determined that a suspicious package found at an IRS building in South Austin is not harmful.

The building is now open to employees, according to Austin police.

The Austin Police Department said they were alerted to a package at the building near Interstate 35 and Ben White Boulevard around 6:15 a.m. June 14, and that a dog alerted authorities to the package. APD added they have evacuated the building as a precaution.

Patrol units were on scene, and the public was advised to avoid the area while police investigate.

KVUE has a crew on the way to the scene. This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
