Sans Bar will be the first sober bar in Austin with your help.

For the first time, there will be a place where Austinites can enjoy a non-alcoholic beverage, mingle with friends, listen to music and meet new people. The Sans Bar will provide an alternative alcohol-free environment to the traditional bar scene. It will allow guests to engage socially and have a good time without falling into the destructive habits that can be caused by drinking.

The idea of the bar came to the owner, Chris Marshall, an addiction counselor, who moved to Austin 10 years ago. He noticed that people would relapse after becoming sober simply because they missed the environment of going out and being with friends. He wanted to provide an atmosphere that promoted community and wellness.

The mission, “Is to provide unmatched and innovative non-alcoholic beverage and food service, quality live music, sober sports viewing, and life courses that invigorate our customers and positively impact our local community through social wellness and philanthropic good.”

The Sans Bar isn’t open yet, however, they host monthly events to raise funding in order to help establish a permanent space.
