LOCKHART, Texas – Emergency crews have lifted a shelter in place for some Lockhart residents after crews stopped the flow of gas from an earlier leak.

The Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management said around 11:10 a.m. Thursday that Texas Gas Service has stopped the flow of natural gas that was leaking in the area of Medina and Bowie in Lockhart. Texas Gas Service said a contractor damaged the pipe while working in the area.

The office of emergency management initially advised residents living in the 900 and 1000 block of Medina to shelter in place and close windows and doors.

Lockhart Fire, Lockhart Police are on site, and Texas Gas Company is making repairs.
