AUSTIN – State Rep. Dwanna Dukes (D-Austin) is currently facing 19 extraneous acts as a part of a misdemeanor trial scheduled next month. Now there is a new, peculiar layer to the case involving a psychic.

According to KVUE’s partners at the Austin American-Statesman, prosecutors say Dukes spent $51,348 on an online psychic from December 2014 to January 2016, which is about $1,000 a week. This filing does not clarify whether Dukes paid for this out of her own pocket or used state money.

Last week, the Travis County District Attorney's Office placed 13 felony charges against Dukes on hold after a Texas House official gave conflicting information about reimbursement vouchers Dukes is alleged to have made up. The corruption trial is set to take place Oct. 16.
