Austin police have identified a person of interest in a stabbing incident that took place near the University United Methodist Church Monday night, leaving a homeless woman injured.

According to police, they received the call for the incident, located in the 300 block of West 24th Street in West Campus, just before 9 p.m.

A 41-year-old woman was found injured at the scene, according to University of Texas police. Medics said she was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center. Austin police said she is expected to be okay.

No one else was injured.

UT police describe the suspect as a heavy-set man and about 5-feet-5 inches to 5-feet-9 inches. The man is believed to be in his 20s or 30s.

Around mid-day Tuesday, UT police said a male suspect matching that description was detained and released into custody of the Austin Police Department.
