Austin police have identified a man who died Wednesday after a crash in South Austin Tuesday night.
APD said that around 9:18 p.m. Tuesday, Emmanuel Castro Ramirez, 34, was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the 400 block of E. William Cannon Drive when he drove onto the center median and crashed into a sign and a metal light pole. Ramirez's vehicle continued going southeast as it rolled and flipped numerous times before hitting a tree and damaging a metal fence.
Ramirez was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle during the crash.
Ramirez was transported to St. David's South Austin Hospital where he died from his injuries at 4:03 p.m. on Wednesday.
The crash remains under investigation. This is Austin's 27th fatal traffic crash of 2017. At this time in 2016, there were 28 fatal traffic crashes.
