BUDA, Texas – A 21-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a train Monday night, police said.

Buda police said they were called to an area along Garison Road for a reported crash between a Union Pacific train and a pedestrian around 9:55 p.m. Oct. 9. The pedestrian, identified Tuesday as Ian Antonellis, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The railroad crossing at Main Street and Houston Street was closed “for an extended period” after the collision. Police added an autopsy will be performed to determine an exact cause of death.
