Austin police's SWAT team was called out to a North Austin neighborhood early Thursday morning after a domestic disturbance led to a man barricading himself in a home for a few hours.
According to the Austin Police Department, a man and a woman got in an argument inside an apartment located on Twin Crest Drive near Anderson Lane and Interstate 35 just after midnight when the man allegedly started hitting her with a gun.
When police arrived at the home, the man refused to leave until he eventually turned himself over to the officers.
As of 6 a.m. police are still at the scene waiting on a search warrant so they can get into the apartment where the man was hiding.
The woman who was struck by the gun is expected to be okay.
