Authorities are investigating what started a fire at a Bastrop restaurant early Wednesday morning.
Bastrop police said officers were called to the Ramos restaurant at 710 Chestnut Street around 1:50 a.m. Wednesday for a fire in progress. Firefighters tell KVUE there a false ceiling in the building trapped the fire, which made it harder to extinguish. BPD added a volunteer fire department from both Bastrop and Travis Counties assisted in putting out the fire.
The Bastrop Fire Department is still on scene for possible flare-ups, and the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office has been requested to assist in searching for a cause.
Ramos was closed at the time the fire was called in, and no injuries were reported. Police said the building appears to be a total loss, but did not have a monetary value on the extent of the damage.
