AUSTIN – Due to the overwhelming success of the Texas Toy Drive, Operation Blue Santa is calling for volunteers to help.

Operation Blue Santa and the city said volunteers are needed for each hour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday (Sept. 7-8). Those who can volunteer are asked to call Yolanda Buchman at 512-974-4719.

"Austin, every time I've asked you to help with the Hurricane Harvey relief effort, your response has been overwhelming. Now apparently you're overwhelming Blue Santa's workshop, and Austin needs some elves to help with all the toys. Can you help us out?" asked Mayor Steve Adler.

In addition, Toy Joy and Go! Retail Group are offering specials for those purchasing toys for Harvey kids. Toy Joy is taking 25 percent off the price and making sure the toy gets delivered to Operation Blue Santa. Go! Retail Group is offering 30 percent off games, toys and puzzles for donation to Operation Blue Santa, and has committed to providing a teddy bear for each purchased donation, with a commitment of donating up to 5,000 teddy bears to kids.

Toy Joy is accepting toy drop offs at its store at 403 West 2nd Street, and Go! Games and Toy stores at Barton Creek Square, Lakeline Mall, Round Rock Premium Outlets, San Marcos Premium Outlets and San Marcos Tanger Outlet.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Blue Santa Warehouse, located at 4101 South Industrial Drive, #260 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donations will be accepted through Sept. 15.
