For children in the Central Texas foster care system, this holiday season will be extra bright thanks to the local organization Partnerships for Children and its Holiday Wishes program.

The Austin-based non-profit said it is slated to provide 20,000 gifts to 5,000 children currently in the foster care system through Holiday Wishes. The annual holiday initiative enables children to submit three specific wishes that are fulfilled through the generosity and support of the Central Texas community.

The organization said the toy delivery kicked off on Tuesday and that they will be in their offices sorting and wrapping gifts up until deliveries on Saturday and Sunday.

"Not only does this program make the season brighter for the children receiving the gifts but it also helps to take the burden off of family members caring for children or foster families on a tight budget who have a big heart but also might have many children to buy for this year," Partnerships for Children wrote in a press release.
