A 57-year-old Austin man was arrested for allegedly committing armed robbery at a Bank of America in San Marcos Saturday morning.

San Marcos police said the robbery happened at the bank located in the 300 block of East Hopkins Street at 9:05 a.m. April 28.

Police said the suspect, identified as Rodney Glenn Green, went into the bank, shortly after it opened, wearing a black hoodie, light colored mask, black gloves and jeans. Green allegedly showed a firearm to everyone in the building and ordered the customers to lie on the floor.

Police said he demanded money from the bank teller before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. He allegedly drove away in a silver-colored car that was parked in the alleyway to the rear of the Skiles Real Estate.

Investigators said with the help of the FBI, Austin Police Department, and San Marcos police, they were able to track Green to a Studio 6 Motel in Northeast Austin.

Green is charged with aggravated robbery and is being held in the Hays County Jail.
