In a 10-1 vote, the Austin City Council has approved legal action against Senate Bill 4, the so-called "sanctuary cities" bill that was signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott.

Thursday's vote authorizes the city's legal team to sue over the bill. Council Member Ellen Troxclair voted against the decision.
