Have you been waiting for the right time to adopt a lovable furry friend? Well, the time is now! The Austin Animal Center is in a space crisis and needs your help.

AAC is nearing full capacity for medium and large dogs, and are seeking help from the community to foster or adopt a pet, a press release stated.

“The AAC is the shelter for the community, and the Austin community loves their pets,” said Interim Chief Animal Services Officer Lee Ann Shenefiel. "Residents interested can visit us in person or on our website to foster, adopt, or even foster to adopt an animal."

According to the press release, Austin residents that foster an animal by Nov. 19, and later decide to adopt, will have their adoption fees waived.

Fees will also be waived on any adoptions of medium to large dogs. These fee waivers will last through Sunday, Nov. 19. More information on specials will be posted on the Austin Animal Center Facebook page.

AAC encourages members of the public to foster lost pets in their own neighborhood to keep them from filling kennels at the Center. If a lost pet is found, finders can call 3-1-1 to create a Found Pet Report, and work with them to find their owner.
