Alaska Airlines is expanding its service in Austin, adding a route between the Texas capital and San Jose, Calif. in August.

The airline and city said daily nonstop flights between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) will begin Aug. 27. Flights will depart San Jose at 8:45 a.m. and arrive in Austin at 2:02 p.m., with return flights departing at 3 p.m. and arriving at 4:50 p.m. SkyWest Airlines will operate the route using Embraer E175 jets.

The new route is one of 13 Bay Area routes announced by Alaska Air on Thursday. The Seattle-based airline is adding three destinations from San Jose and 10 from San Francisco. With the addition of the Austin-San Jose route, Alaska Air will have three destinations from Austin: Seattle, Portland and San Jose.
