The day after a former student allegedly threatened to "shoot and blow up" Akins High School on Feb. 22, attendance at the school plummeted to roughly 54 percent.
Ariel Alexander Ramirez-Navarro allegedly went into Akins High School and made terroristic threats toward the school on Feb. 22. A lockdown was initiated and students were released early following the incident.

According to attendance data provided by the school district, the amount of students in attendance the day of the alleged threats was 93.78 percent. However, the percentage of students in attendance the following day was 53.67 percent -- almost a 40 percent decrease in students in attendance. The Monday following the incident, attendance shot back up to 85.62 percent.
