The Austin Independent School District's summer food program is expanding to offer free meals to even more neighborhoods.
60 campuses will now offer free breakfast and lunch to any child under the age of 18, regardless of economic status or where they go to school.
Last year, 42 sites served the meals. District officials say one in four students in Travis County lives in a food insecure household.
"Students need food in order to learn, grow and thrive, whether we're in school or not," said AISD's Food Service Director Anneliese Tanner.
