The terminal designed to accommodate low-cost airlines at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is set to open for travelers next week.
The South Terminal is smaller than the main Barbara Jordan Terminal. Passengers will walk outside to board their planes, and the terminal’s designers embraced a 1950s theme.
Low-cost airline Viva Aerobus began using the South Terminal at ABIA in 2008. With the recession that started that same year, the airline halted service in 2009. Allegiant Air, Texas Sky Public Charters and Sun Country have all signed up to use the South Terminal.
Travelers using the South Terminal will have to take a different route compared to the Barbara Jordan Terminal. The address of the new terminal will be 10000 Logistics Lane, Austin, TX 78719.
The best way to get to the terminal is to go past the 71 East exit you usually take to get to the other terminal. Then you continue on Highway 183 before turning left on Burleson Road. Then after turning left on Emma Browning Ave, you should be at the terminal in about one mile.
