Two men in their 20s face felony drug charges for allegedly attempting to distribute nearly 90 bags of K2, a synthetic drug, in east Austin.

Police said they conducted surveillance on the apartment, located in the 1137 block of Gunter Street,  because the residents, identified as Rojelio Amaro Jr, 24, and Augustine Amaro, 21, were suspected of distributing the synthetic drug.

After obtaining a warrant, the Austin Police Department's Narcotics Conspiracy and Street Narcotics Unit said they seized 87 bags from the apartment Tuesday, April 11 at 1 p.m.. Amaro, who was inside the apartment at the time, admitted to having the drugs in the residence.

Austin police said the amount seized from the apartment equates to 2,600 doses.
