Taylor police and Georgetown police are investigating a crash after a child was struck and killed by a truck Sunday afternoon.

Police said the collision happened in the 600 block of East Pecan Street at 4:39 p.m.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 50-year-old man struck a 20-month-old child with his 2008 Chevrolet truck after the child ran into the roadway.

The child identified as Henry Campos Jr. died at the scene, police said.

The crash happened in front of both Campos and the man's homes, according to police.

Investigators said the 50-year-old cooperated with police after the collision. They added it didn't appear that he was speeding or impaired.

No arrests have been made in the case, as of Monday, Oct. 2.

Police said this is the second fatal collision for the city of Taylor in 2017.
