LEANDER, Texas – A Bastrop County man is facing multiple charges after police say he shot a Leander man in the face and stole the victim’s truck.

Police have charged Armando Espinoza Jr. 28, with aggravated robbery in connection to the Sept. 3 incident. Court documents state officers responded to Cedar Park Regional Medical Center for a reported gunshot victim. The nurse told police the victim was unable to speak, but wrote on a napkin the name of the man who shot him. The affidavit stated Espinoza is the grandson of the victim’s neighbor.

Court documents obtained by KVUE’s partners at the Austin American-Statesman state Espinoza was charged with felony burglary after he allegedly broke into his grandfather’s home in Leander. The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office and DPS notified Leander police that they located Espinoza driving the shooting victim’s truck and took him into custody. Detectives later located items reported stolen from the suspect’s grandfather’s house and the shooting victim’s wallet in the truck, the Statesman reported.

Espinoza was booked into the Bastrop County Jail. Online records state he is being held on combined $1.205 million.
