Police have identified the man who died in a shooting early Sunday morning in South Austin.

APD said officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Armadillo Road for a report of shots fired. Witnesses told police a white vehicle was driving up and down the street at a high rate of speed, on one such pass striking several vehicles and one pedestrian.

Police said the vehicle then drove toward a group of bystanders and crashed into a tree. The people in the vehicle fled the scene, and the driver was later found in the road with apparent gunshot wounds. The driver, identified Thursday as Jacob Camacho, 20, died at the scene and the medical examiner’s office has ruled the death a homicide. Austin-Travis County EMS said the man who was struck was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center and is expected to be okay.
