After a man caused a car crash that sent a woman to a hospital, police said they found the driver "sweaty," "scared" and high on LSD at a nearby gas station.

On Feb. 21, officers responded to the 8300 block of South Interstate 35 around midnight after receiving reports of a crash.

When police arrived, they determined that the suspect, identified as Orlando Quintero Lopez, 24, was allegedly traveling southbound in the left lane when he veered across two lanes and hit the victim's vehicle causing it to spin out across three lanes of traffic and collide with a concrete barrier.

According to the arrest affidavit, two witnesses stated that Lopez was making unsafe lane changes as he moved through traffic and continued to travel southbound after the accident.

Officers found Lopez and his damaged vehicle parked at the Valero gas station on Slaughter Lane, police said.

According to police, Lopez was "sweating and seemed to be scared."

Lopez allegedly told police that his friend gave him LSD earlier that night. He was taken to the hospital where he tested positive for drugs in his system.

The victim was also transported to a local hospital where she received CT scans on her back, police said. Police said her hand was swollen and had abrasions.

Lopez has been charged with accident involving serious bodily injury and driving while intoxicated, according to the affidavit.
