New mixed-use development breaks ground in Leander

Construction on the Ronald Reagan Crossing development will begin later this month.

LEANDER, Texas — Another mixed-use development is coming to Central Texas.

Construction will start later this month on Ronald Reagan Crossing at 1501 Ronald W. Reagan Blvd. in Leander, according to the Austin Business Journal.

The development will include retail and office space, a preschool and drive-thrus. Zoning is also set up to allow for a hotel.

The first phase is expected to bring at least 100,000 square feet, with another 60,000 square feet to be added later, the Austin Business Journal reported.

It's set to be completed next year, but some spaces are expected to be ready by the end of this year.

The project’s first tenant, The Learning Experience, has already reportedly signed on to lease 10,000 square feet for a child care center offering early education to children up to 5 years old.

The development will be located less than 10 miles north of Apple’s new campus, in a mostly residential area with limited office space.

In 2019, U.S. Census Bureau data showed Leander as the fastest growing city in the U.S. among cities with at least 50,000 people.
