Report: Jo's Coffee could be expanding further into South Austin

Documents indicate that the coffee company will renovate a building on Menchaca Road.

AUSTIN, Texas — Jo's Coffee appears to be expanding further into South Austin, according to a report from the Austin Business Journal (ABJ).

The report states that a Texas Department of License and Regulation (TDLR) filing indicates the coffee company will begin renovating a building located at 5532 Menchaca Road starting in October. The renovation is slated to be complete by the end of the year.

According to the ABJ, the building is nearly 2,200 square feet and is located near Crockett High School and Austin Community College. The work is estimated to cost $487,500, but the ABJ noted that TDLR filings are not always accurate.

Jo's Coffee is part of the Bunkhouse Group portfolio, which includes Hotel San José, the Austin Motel and Hotel Magdalena, all establishments close to Jo's Coffee's most famous location on South Congress Avenue. The company also owns Fair Market and Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, as well as The Phoenix Hotel in California, Hotel Havana in San Antonio and Hotel San Cristóbal Baja in Mexico.
