Keep Austin Local: Milano Cafe

Try authentic Italian cuisine at this family-owned restaurant.

AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting the local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.

On Monday, KVUE stopped by Milano Café, a family-owned spot in southwest Austin that’s been around for 12 years. The owners, Sami and Giki Demi, moved to Austin in 1999 and opened Milano Café in 2009. Owning an Italian restaurant had been a dream of Sami’s.

Milano Café features authentic Italian cuisine including homemade pasta, gourmet pizzas, and desserts. Many of the dishes are the Sami’s family recipes.

On the walls of Milano Café you can find paintings created by Sami Demi. He began painting during the beginning of the pandemic to fill his time. He fell in love with painting and decided to fill the restaurant walls and sell his art. You can see his paintings here.

You can find Milano Café at 4601 Southwest Parkway Austin, Texas, 78735 or online here.
