Keep Austin Local: Ladder

A local gym turns completely digital due to the pandemic.

AUSTIN, Texas — Central Texans have seen many businesses shutting down because of the COVID-19 pandemic. KVUE wants to help "Keep Austin Local" by highlighting small businesses that might need a little help.

This week, KVUE stopped by Ladder, a gym in southeast Austin.

The gym opened in Austin at the end of 2019 and was both digital and in-person, but that changed after the COVID-19 pandemic began. They had to close the gym and sent all their employees home.

The gym made the decision to build and launch Ladder Teams, focusing on building a fitness community among their clients. It is a fitness app that is interactive and community-based. It includes a group chat, videos and coaching from trainers, and the ability to listen to your own music.

"We’re giving you access to some of the best coaches in the world," said co-founder Tom Rigan. "It really isn’t some follow-along app. It’s a premium experience."

You can find Ladder at 510 E. St. Elmo Road in Austin, or online here.

The gym offers a free trial and a discount if you decide to purchase the app.
