Keep Austin Local: Cupprimo

Try these delicious cupcakes while supporting a local family-owned business.

AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting the local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.

On Monday, KVUE stopped by Cupprimo, a cupcake shop that’s been around since 2008.

The shop is owned by Amy Closson, who has been featured on the show "Cupcake Wars." She owned Cupprimo for 10 years and then sold it in 2018 to one of her bakers. In 2021, Closson decided to buy it back, and now they are expanding to open another location in South Austin.

Cupprimo bakes their cupcakes fresh seven days a week. They offer daily flavors and special flavors depending on the day of the week. They also offer vegan and gluten-free cupcakes and coffee. They’ve expanded to baking cakes and will soon launch a Cupprimo Sprinkles brand and Cupprimo Pupcakes line.

The employees of Cupprimo told KVUE that they survive and thrive thanks to their customers.

“We are a ‘neighborhood’ shop that depends on folks supporting local businesses,” said Closson.

She added that their customers have used Cupprimo for their engagement parties, weddings, baby showers and kids birthday events.

You can find Cupprimo at 8650 Spicewood Springs Road, Suite 105, in Austin, on social media, or online here.
